Astoria Brings “Smart Traditional” Concept to Asia Through ST-800 Debut at World of Coffee Bangkok
HUDES MAGAZINE - Astoria, an Italian manufacturer of professional espresso machines, has introduced its new “Smart Traditional” concept to the Asian market through the debut of the ST-800 at World of Coffee Bangkok 2026. During the exhibition, held from May 7–9 in Bangkok, the globally recognized coffee equipment brand unveiled a next-generation espresso machine that combines classic coffee traditions with modern operational intelligence.
Astoria Espresso Machine is part of the Italian group CMA Macchine per Caffè and has long been known as one of the leading manufacturers of commercial espresso machines for coffee shops, hotels, restaurants, and international barista competitions. The brand has built a strong reputation for delivering Italian-style machines focused on high performance, durability, and espresso quality.
In collaboration with local partner Peaberry Thai at booth B115, Astoria presented the ST-800 as a solution for the modern coffee industry, where consistency, operational efficiency, and ease of use are increasingly essential without sacrificing the essence of craft coffee.
Built around the “Smart Traditional” concept, the ST-800 preserves the iconic ritual of using a traditional portafilter while integrating intelligent technology designed to minimize human error. The system assists baristas throughout the extraction process, ensuring consistent espresso quality even when operated by less-experienced staff.
One of the machine’s key innovations is the Intelligent Portafilter Recognition (IPR) system, which automatically identifies the coffee dose through its horizontal-insertion portafilter and communicates directly with the SmartGrind Integrated (SGI) grinder. This combination enables a faster workflow, higher precision, and reliable stability even during peak operating hours.
Astoria has also equipped the ST-800 with a multi-boiler system to maintain excellent thermal stability throughout extraction. Features such as heated group heads that keep portafilters at optimal temperature and precise extraction control were developed to support baristas in working more efficiently without compromising cup quality.
Beyond specialty coffee shops and the HoReCa sector, the ST-800 is also positioned as an ideal solution for high-traffic environments such as service stations and modern food service areas where speed and consistency are critical.
Key features of the ST-800 include: Multi-boiler system with high thermal stability. “Smart Traditional” concept combining manual espresso rituals with superautomatic convenience and horizontal insertion portafilter for a more ergonomic workflow.
Optional features including Autosteamer and Instant Americano directly into the cup. With the launch of the ST-800 in Bangkok, Astoria reinforces its vision for the future of professional espresso machines: advancing modern technology while preserving the soul and heritage of traditional Italian coffee culture.
