Since January 1st, 2020, the official organizers have held the exclusive hosting rights for all AeroPress competitions in Spain. What began years ago as a grassroots celebration of coffee brewing has now become a nationwide movement connecting baristas, roasters, and enthusiasts from every corner of the country.

This competition has always been about creativity, community, and the shared joy of discovering what coffee can be. Since the launch of the Official National Circuit in 2017, the Spain AeroPress Championship has grown into one of the most dynamic and respected circuits in the world.

In 2025, the championship reached an incredible milestone with 14 Regional Championships hosted across Spain adding up to an impressive total of 115 regionals since its inception. This season also marked a record-breaking year, with over 360 competitors taking part. From small-town baristas to renowned roasters, the AeroPress spirit continues to unite a diverse and passionate coffee community. And now, all roads lead to one city, Barcelona.

The long-awaited moment for Spain’s coffee community has arrived. On Saturday, October 11, 2025, the 8th National Final of the Spain AeroPress Championship will take place at Manhattan Studio, Carrer d'AragĂł 425, Barcelona.

This year, all brewers will work with coffee roasted by the Spain Roasters Champion 2025, Familia Osorio, widely recognized for their precision and craftsmanship in the Spanish specialty coffee scene.

It’s set to become a full celebration of community, flavor, and passion. The organizers are opening the doors to everyone entry is free, inviting baristas, roasters, and coffee lovers alike to join the experience, support their favorite competitors, and enjoy a day surrounded by great coffee and inspiring people.

In Barcelona, surrounded by friends, music, and the hum of grinders and conversation, a new chapter in Spain’s coffee story will be written.

The People Behind the Championship

Behind the excitement of every AeroPress Championship lies a passionate team that keeps the movement alive across Spain. Since 2017, the Spain AeroPress Championship has been organized by a dedicated national team working.

Since January 1, 2020, the organization has held the exclusive hosting rights for all AeroPress Championships in Spain. This structure allows them to build a strong network of Regional Coordinators, ensuring that the spirit of the competition reaches every corner of the country.

Each region has its own story and its own champions. From AndalucĂa, led by JosĂ© Pacheco and Omar Molinero of Ineffable Coffee Roasters, to Catalunya, coordinated by Carmen Callizo, Blanca Julbe, and Lissa Valdez of SlowMov, every event reflects the diversity and creativity of Spain’s coffee scene.

At the national level, Alice Liu and Carlos Zavala lead the coordination team for the Spain AeroPress Championship, working closely with regional hosts to ensure every competition runs smoothly, fairly, and with the same spirit of community that defines the AeroPress movement worldwide.

Over the past few years, the Spain AeroPress Championship has evolved into a movement that celebrates coffee, people, and community across the country.

One of the most defining moments in its growth came with the introduction of the AeroPress Regionals, a format that changed how Spain’s coffee scene connects and competes.
For many baristas and coffee lovers, traveling long distances to attend national competitions isn’t always easy. The cost, the time, and the logistics can be challenging, especially for those who spend their days behind the bar. Yet, the organizers believed that access to the AeroPress experience shouldn’t depend on where someone lives. The love for coffee and the chance to compete should be within everyone’s reach.

That idea led to the creation of a strong network of regional hosts cafés, roasters, and local organizers working together to bring the championship closer to home. Every year, new cities join the map, new faces appear behind the brew stations, and the sense of community grows stronger.

What began in 2017 with just seven regional competitions quickly transformed into a nationwide celebration. The following year saw 17 regionals, then 16 in 2019. After a pause in 2020 due to the pandemic, the circuit returned with fresh energy consistently organizing between 14 and 17 regional events each year from 2021 to 2025.
